I just bought an Arc Haul. I don’t like the hip belt pockets that zpacks sells. They’re not secure enough when attached for my liking. Too “floppy.” I decided to make some with some 140d that I bought on gear swap from JepPaks. Each pocket weighs 1.0 oz. I used #5 zippers, 3/4″ elastic and slik clips to secure it, and stiffened the top of each pocket by taping zip ties with cf tape on the inside (great idea mentioned here).
The first pocket I made was for the right side (not pictured) and it turned out well but I made the zippered opening a little too small. The second pocket (pictured) I made has a longer opening that extends about 1/3 of the way down the sides. The finished dimensions are 6″ x 3″ x 3″.
