I was shopping at Costco in Charlotte, NC this afternoon and stumbled upon some “Moon Cheese “. 10 ounces are $9.69 and there is currently a $3 discount, so $6.69. It is essentially freeze dried cheddar cheese in the form of small nuggets and it packs about 150 calories per ounce.
I bought some of this from REI for a trip about 3 years ago for 1/2 the amount and twice the cost….even then I thought it was quite light and quite tasty. This seems to be a really good deal.
I put it in ziploc bags 5 days befor a 10-day trip and it was fine. The cheese at Costco was cheddar, and on that trip I had some pepperjack as well. Tasty with a crunch.
The package has a 10-month expiration date….I’m sure that is unopened.
