Just got email from my grandson in Thailand. He is coming to visit this summer and wants to hike.
He is 16, at 14 He hiked about 80 miles with me (including Half Dome and Mt. Whitney)
I have hike up Whitney from about all direction except Mineral King. (JMT, Kearsarge, Cottonwood Pass, New Army Pass, Shepherds Pass, High Sierra Trail and Whitney Portal)
Our entry date is July 24 and exit Whitney Portal on Aug 1.
I have trailhead choice of Timbergap or Franklin Pass. Any experienced people want to suggest one or the other. We like to fish, and would have plenty of time for it. If there is no good fishing on the trail I know I could do well by skipping over to Crabtree Lakes and or Hitchcock Lakes.
