I have a Khufu with 2/3 mesh inner, which worked out pretty nicely on the Cape Wrath Trail this year, with three caveats:
- I really can’t stand the silnylon sag.
- The weather wasn’t great, and I would like a semi-solid nest
- Just a tad longer would be great, but not essential.
Now, I can solve 1) and possibly 3) with a Duomid in silpoly; BUT no semi-solid nest, unless I source something third-party.
For 2), LocusGear do a fantastic range, something for every situation, but they only have silnylon for the tarp (I’m not keen on DCF). The also do a Khufu Grande – if they did silpoly I would bite their hand off!
I could also go to a Pyraomm Duo (Liteway) in silpoly or ultra, but again no semi-solid nest.
So the options I can figure are:
- Grab a Pyraomm Duo, being almost identical in size to the Khufu, and grab a Khufu semi-solid nest. I can also use my existing mesh next with this.
- Grab a Duomid and source a 3rd party nest, but since ookworks disappeared I can’t see any.
Anyone got any ideas?

Check on AlieExpress. There are solid inserts, but the inserts are a bit on the heavy side relative to what the cottage makers offer.

Oct 10, 2024 at 8:15 am #3819566Why won’t your LG inner fit inside an MLD Duomid?
Oct 10, 2024 at 8:35 am #3819568Well, it sort of would, but the Khufi is 130cm tall and 270cm long , and the duomid 140cm and 280cm, though I guess wouldn’t notice that except in some welcome extra separation.
Oct 10, 2024 at 9:19 am #3819570That will definitely fit fine.
I don’t know if the current version of the Duomid has a clip inside the peak but older versions didn’t. In the absence of such a clip, it should be easy to rig a way to clip the Khufu inner to the trekking pole that holds the Duomid up. One lazy way to do this would be to order one of the Tarp Pole Cups from MLD (Zpacks have similar) and attach the peak clip on the Khufu inner to the cup or to a cord tied off from the cup as the cup sits atop the pole.
Here’s a link to the Tarp Pole Cup

Hope this helps.
Oct 18, 2024 at 5:53 pm #3820282How I deal with sag is I set up my pyramid shelter with the pole slanted. Then when there is sag, I just straighten up the pole.

Awesome.
Oct 22, 2024 at 10:01 am #3820490I have an exterior loop on my tent peak. I should add interior loop(s). Good idea
