I saw some old threads that referenced someone offering that service, but can’t seem to find them. Anybody in the community offering that service? Got a marmot hydrogen 30 that’s presently garnering little interest in the gear swap forum, I’m willing to put it under the knife… just not with me holding the knife.
Nov 21, 2016 at 10:42 pm #3436809What do you have in mind?
Nov 22, 2016 at 9:52 am #3436857You might try Aaron Sorensen .
Nov 22, 2016 at 10:06 am #3436860I don’t have any super kazoo requests… I think. I’m 5’8 and never sleep with my legs all the way straight, so if I was going to use EE”s measurement options I’d go with the 50inch wide and 66inch long. That would save me a lot of excess bag I don’t use trimmed off the sides, and of course the hood. If it’s not a gargantuan task it would be neat to have that down restuffed into the baffles. That and some sort of attachment loops and straps?

Nov 22, 2016 at 10:32 am #3436864I think the conversions referenced in very old threads might have been completed by Tim Marshall right before or in the very early days of EE Designs. Â You might try Rainy Pass in Seattle. I know they replace zippers and repair draft collars in bags. They might be able to help. Â I would think having down re-shuffled in labor intensive… Â If your down has started to loss its loft, Rainy Pass might recommend an once or two overfill.
My long Marmot Hydogen comes in at about 24 oz. A new 30 degree quilt from EE or Katabatic might save you 3 or 4 oz.
Nov 22, 2016 at 10:39 am #3436868Yeah. An EE 20 spec’d for me will be 17oz… short measurements, 950 down. I may do that anyways, but the hydrogen has nice guts (down and shell), so I’m trying to find use for it either converting or selling it.
Nov 22, 2016 at 3:13 pm #3436919Give Rainy Pass a call. You will need to factor in the shipping costs to see if it really economical. They have done a good job cleaning some of my down gear. Â Have not had them do any mods though. You might also call EE. Since it is the slow season and Tim has added staff, maybe they would be interested in modding the Marmot.
Nov 22, 2016 at 4:32 pm #3436935Try calling a local tailor/seamstress.
Nov 22, 2016 at 7:03 pm #3436952Ha, I’m looking for the opposite! Son’s not a quilt kinda guy after all, so we want to add a full zipper. I’ll give Rainy Pass a try.
Nov 22, 2016 at 7:14 pm #3436956Jordo is going to take on the project . Thanks for everyone’s input.
