The local Sierra Club chapter seems to have outings each weekend for the coming month. Â Probably a lot more in summer:

Many universities have outing clubs and some of them are open to anyone. Â Certainly the one at Berkeley was and while it was 1/3 undergrads and 1/3 grad students, it was also 1/3 hangers on of various sorts – students from other schools, people out of school for a few or many years, community members who knew to look into university outing clubs for group events – although 28-year-olds probably lift in better than 78-year-olds. Â Most weeks, they offered 1-2 rock climbing trips, one or two 2-3-night backpacking trips, a weekend day hike and sometimes events during the week. Â Winter and Spring break would have week-long trips. Â All member-led, shared expense (a common rule is everyone but the driver pays for gas).
