So all of my tarps I use for hammock and ground coverage have all the guy lines attached to the tie out points via simple knot on loop or line locs. What do you do with tarps that are large in size, say 11 X 10 or what not? So many tie out points I would definitely not leave lines attached to them all. I assume you would have certain lengths pre cut and just carry them separately, then if needed you can attach them to the tie out loops using which knot? Something that would hold but easily remove without hassle…

For my 10×10, I like this knot (a sorta siberian) for the stake tie outs at the tarp and a taught line at the stake. I use precut lengths and add extra line if needed, taken off another 25′ that doubles as a drying line.
I’m sure more experienced tarpists (is that a word?) would have better ways
Apr 24, 2024 at 11:03 pm #3810099Use these for quick on and off.

Apr 25, 2024 at 7:25 am #3810109I’ve always wondered about this zpacks linelocs. Are they really that light? And easy to get through the tie out points, does it twist or deform the corners of the tarp?
I recently saw a video of a guy setting up a tarp using bowline knots to secure his guylines but he added a twist to make it easier to undo them. Look at about 4:50 here: https://youtu.be/JAzs1KgzZZo?si=b8XiDOcIkKv8AhR5
Apr 25, 2024 at 7:40 am #3810112Only 2.8 g each. https://zpacks.com/products/mini-d-carabiner
And with 2 mm Z Line you can use micro line locs, which weigh almost nothing. https://zpacks.com/products/micro-lineloc
Apr 25, 2024 at 10:39 am #3810140Ahh yes Monte. Those mini zpacks biners could be useful! I happen to have a few laying around.. they could work nicely for quick connect to and from tie outs since I don’t use line locs.
Apr 25, 2024 at 10:58 am #3810142MLD has them too and only a few grains heavier. Multi-use item as Ron lists in the description. A tad stiffer springs than ZPacks so better as a clothesline pin. Recommends them for MLD Pro Poncho tarp mode guylines. https://mountainlaureldesigns.com/product/superfly-mini-biner/
Apr 26, 2024 at 4:39 am #3810185I think I’m gonna just try using a loop on both ends of the guylines and just loop it through the tarp loop to attatch whichever guylines extra if needed. So no need for any extra hardware or weight and easily remove it when not needed. Keep it simple.
