Killian Wins Hardrock.
Jul 16, 2017 at 12:43 am #3479174I realize there are maybe 3 people on this site who might care, and the rest will denigrate the accomplishment, but Killian Jornet won his 4th Hardrock this weekend, and he did it with 1 hand tied, well in front of his back. he fell around mile 8 and dislocated his shoulder, then had his arm tied to his chest and continued to run with only one arm free for the remaining 92 miles, enduring the pain. Yes he IS superman.
Jul 16, 2017 at 3:52 am #3479175That’s nuts.
Jul 16, 2017 at 6:09 am #3479180Thanks, Art…
Just read the results; amazing race! Awesome to even be a competitor.Jul 16, 2017 at 7:50 am #3479190Bad@ss to say the least. I watched the post race interview. He said it popped out of place when he fell and popped it back in himself as it has happened before. Yikes.
Jul 16, 2017 at 9:58 am #3479198definitely in the super human category- tough as nails too! Congrats to him
Jul 16, 2017 at 10:17 am #3479201I am one of the three, I guess. Currently I am here at awards ceremony in Silverton; this is my 19th year involved with this special event.
Kilian took his fall about mile 8, and smiled the whole rest of the day, even while wincing in discomfort.
There are so many more incredible stories from the last 2 days; if you get into that, so some Google searching for the race reports. Cheers!
Jul 16, 2017 at 10:25 am #3479203I think it’s an irresponsible message he’s sending out, to ignore injury for the sake of a race. Think of the children! So many of them will hear this and now keep running, jumping, hiking and all around being athletic after they get hurt. Society will suffer for decades to come. Seriously.
Or let’s appreciate a bada$$ human. Wow.

Jul 16, 2017 at 1:47 pm #3479228Glad to see Joe Grant in 3rd, I’ve followed him a long time.
Jul 19, 2017 at 9:58 pm #3479849Crazy impressive that he finished the race, let alone won it (for the 4th time in a row and after summitting Everest twice within a week????). He has to be the greatest ultrarunner of all time, and one of the toughest, most humble and down to earth people ever. Quite a contrast with some of the other stars in sports these days…
Jul 20, 2017 at 5:41 pm #3480080Greatest male trail runner of all time. Impossible to know how he’d stack up against the likes of Yannis Kouros in a 24 hour or the Spartathlon. Ann Trason has to be acknowledged as the greatest female ultra runner of all time, road & trail.
Jul 23, 2017 at 1:14 pm #3480883Peter, good point, I should have been more specific…no need to debate the relative greatness of Killian vs Ann Trason or Yiannis Kouros as they are all legends in their own right.
Jul 24, 2017 at 11:48 am #3481024He’s so awesome. And so young! I wonder what he’ll accomplish at his prime!
