Has anyone tried these? I came across a you tube video of someone carrying one of these on his 17 hr thru hike of the Devils Path in the Catskills. I checked out the website.. they look interesting.. i am probably going to try 1 chocolate Malt, 1 coconut cream, and 1 cookies n cream brick… any one have any feedback about them yet??
Sep 17, 2020 at 9:27 am #3676513I tried them when I went keto nearly two years ago, it was the only thing that seemed workable for a hike from a keto perspective. They weren’t horrible, but I ended up throwing a bunch out. The first couple you eat seem okay, but, to me, the taste got real old real fast. And they really are a brick, not easy to bite into, at least when I tried them. YMMV of course. I’d recommend trying a couple before buying too many.
Sep 17, 2020 at 10:23 am #3676521Have to agree.. about trying before buying too many. I ordered 1 chocolate, 1 coconut and 1 cookies n cream. Ill see how they are.. like you said.. can get old real quick, im sure. I like trying different things on different trips and figure my upcoming October trip maybe i will pack one of these and use as my “snack” that i can chip away at over 3 or days..
Sep 17, 2020 at 10:50 am #3676528Trying to figure these out…It seems they’re basically a brick of flavored cacao butter. Not sure how long I could tolerate that…

^^^This butter is 120 calories for 13 grams. Scaled up to a Keto Brick sized portion (151 grams and 1000 calories), that’s 1200 calories for 130 grams. So it sounds like these Keto Bricks are in the ballpark of 80-90% cacao butter.
Sep 17, 2020 at 10:57 am #3676531Yeah. I will let you know what i think when i get them.. and then I will decide if im gonna bring 1 on my upcoming trip. Im kind of on the fence right now.. lol. I dont have a clue!!
Sep 17, 2020 at 11:59 am #3676535One other thing to note, they crumble. I tried cutting one in half, and pretty much did so, but with lots of slivers as well. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, just know that it happens and be prepared for it.
Sep 17, 2020 at 12:01 pm #3676536Yup.. saw that in a review someone did.. but thanks for the heads up
Sep 25, 2020 at 12:04 pm #3677417First taste test.. coconut creme .
Not bad at all. I could definitely snack on this on a 3 or 4 day trip. Personally i think i would just bite right off of it, as it does flake when sliced.
I can understand about getting sock of it after a while.. but for now.. it is a go!!
I will try the cookies n cream on my upcoming trip in a few weeks and report back on that.
Oct 10, 2020 at 10:22 pm #3679181So I bought a variety pack to reacquaint myself with them. I think I just bought too many before. You’re right, not too bad.
I bought a silicone ‘bar’ tray, each section is about the size of two kit kat bars stacked on top of each other. I put half a keto brick in the microwave and melted it, then poured that into two of the sections and put the silicone tray in the fridge (the half brick filled each of the sections about 80 percent of the way, to make two bars instead of bricks). the keto bricks hardened right back up, and stayed that way on my counter for about 4 hours this afternoon. Much easier to eat in this form factor than the form factor of the bricks as shipped. Something to consider.
Oct 11, 2020 at 8:14 am #3679199Great idea. Where and what did you buy (silicone bar tray). Thats a great idea. I just sliced 1 brick into 3 pieces and packed each piece in a small sandwich baggie.. bringing them with me on my upcoming trip this week. Again.. it is not something i could live on, but a small hi calorie tasty snack on trail for a few days.. definitely works for me.
Oct 11, 2020 at 12:19 pm #3679237I bought these. They’re quite flimsy, so you need to put a plate or pan underneath them while moving them into the fridge and such, but they work like a charm for my intended purpose.
Oct 11, 2020 at 12:35 pm #3679238That is perfect!! I am going to do this after my trip.. (for next time) thanks for that!
Im actually heading out to do the Loyalsock trail thru hike. Going west to east. I believe you have done this????
Oct 11, 2020 at 4:14 pm #3679264Yes, I did Loyalsock a number of years ago. I’ve also done shorter loops in Loyalsock. All when I lived back east. It’s a great trail, you’ll enjoy it.
Oct 22, 2020 at 2:34 pm #3680648Brought the cookies n cream on my Loyalsock thruhike. Ughh.. did not really care for that flavor at all!!!
So far I enjoyed the coconut cream flavor.. do not care for cookies n cream at all… i still have the chocolate flavor to try and i think i will like that one. ..
