I’m looking for backpacking trip reco’s in June.  It can be anywhere in the lower 48 of the US with easy airport access or within one-ish day drive from Southern Ohio.

    Wishlist:

    • 2-4 nights
    • Great scenery
    • Other camping and day hike opportunities in the area
    • No snow or nighttime temps below 30-35 deg F
    • Bonus for being able to get in or near water

Hiking partner tossed up Arizona and Utah.  Open to suggestions there or elsewhere.

Hi Brad – I got several recommendations from the community last year.  My target was going “out west” in June.  As warned by the group, it was a bit of a mixed bag with some areas being really hot and dry already and some being still buried in snow.  We ultimately went to the Pecos Wilderness, NM.  My kids and I loved it, but we got hit by hail and some intense thunderstorms.  It was awesome though.

Here are two threads that included various recommendations on June trips:

Early June Trip – CO or NM?

I’m in Cleveland, OH so dealing with similar driving limitations to you.  Other options might include:

    • My family and I are checking out the Bruce Peninsula in Ontario mid-June.  There’s 2 nights worth of backpacking here.
    • Adirondacks, NY

I’m excited to hear what other suggestions come out in this thread.
