    Hello,

On Monday, April 24, we are starting a leisurely (6 nights, about 5 miles per day) thru-hike down Salt Creek from Cathedral Rocks thru Peekaboo then out to Squaw Creek. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Specifically, I am wondering about the water clarity. I have lots of Sawyer containers for settling sediment, and a heavy Katydyn hiker pro pump filter which worked great at Paria canyon. But, if I can use the lighter weight Platypus gravity filter which worked fine at Coyote Gulch, it would be easier on my back.

Also, I am wondering if I should plan on having wet feet from walking in the stream during the hike. Are neoprene booties required in late April (I am thinking not)? And dry shoes and socks for around camp?

    Thanks!

Locale: The West is (still) the Best

Did a fall trip nearby years ago (2008) and I remember the water we found as being pretty green. Not sure if spring snows would help dilute it all that much.

I was in Salt Creek about the same time of year in 2014. I don’t think there was water in the upper part of the Canyon. Lower down there was a good flow of clear water, but not enough to get your feet wet. Peekaboo is really fun!
