Sugar for me is viscous. I hit 45 and really felt it. Couldn’t eat crap anymore. I try to eat as little of it as I can. Now when I do eat it, I feel it. One, I crash bad off of it, but I can feel my blood sugar spike. It’s nap time. At my age and my family history…the less I eat of it, the better.

The irony is I have like 7 quart jars of the deepest honey you will ever have, that I processed this winter off of our hives. Cruel, cruel world ;-)

DWR D, and everyone on this thread…

Thanks so much for this discussion, which is a topic of concern to me, especially avoiding saturated fats, including things like coconut oil.

Like some others on this thread, I have purchased a dehydrator (an inexpensive model) and have tried mixing up my own meals this way, but it’s time consuming and so I’m also looking for foods that don’t need as much prep work, too.

So far I have been experimenting with foods like a mixture of oat bran, almond flour, nuts and dried fruits as a breakfast, or pancakes/patties made from chickpea flour and spices. In the past I have found powdered egg whites but my local store does not seem to have this anymore except as a meringue mix which also contains sugar.

I also find nuts to be useful to use together with whole grain foods, especially walnuts which from what I understand have a good profile of healthy fats.

I’ll definitely check out the other suggestions in this thread. Thanks again for this topic.
