I’ve been looking for the ultimate stealth bivy/tent shelter that’s low profile and with a very small footprint. I saw this on Amazon and then investigated a little further. The Geertop site says it weighs 2.5 lbs, but I’m sure I could knock off an oz or two with lighter pegs and no stuff sack. The price at $80 makes me think it can’t be good, however, the materials and labor are inexpensive I’m sure. I really like the open mesh on the mid section and the mesh windows for ventilation on each end, which makes it a possible choice for warm temps. Floor is 210T 10000mm poly and the fly is 240T 5000mm Poly.
The Geertop Bivy (Plume) II is 90″ long, 23.5″ wide and 29.5″high. The English Woodsman did a follow up video after this one where he tests it for waterproofness and it performed well.
Where did you see the video where he tested the new version and where it performed well? I only found his test on last year’s model and even without someone in it, it leaked pretty badly?
Yea Michael, the Geertop Bivy 1 is real junk compared to the newer Bivy II, at least going by the many reviews I’ve read. Here’s the video you want.
The reviews seem to be running about 2 good for every 1 bad, and the bad reviews are replied to by Geertop staff basically saying ” hey, just tell us what the problem is and we’ll make everything right.”
