**DISCLAIMER** I have not tested these out on a hike yet. This fix seems to work just fine walking around with them, but it may not hold up in the long run.
After poking around on the forums for a bit and seeing the 3 accepted fixes for the CP3 rattle, I wanted to find something a bit more accessible. The 3 challenges were longevity/reliability (duct tape fix), accessibility (replacing the end caps with ones from other poles), and uncertainty (wasn’t sure how to go about the nail polish fix, and was concerned about the permanence).
After lots of googling, I found rubber stoppers would work great if they were trimmed down to fit. The two sizes that were closest were the #00’s and #000’s. They are a bit of a pain to order online, so I ended up ordering some 1lb bags on amazon. If I had to do it again, I would make sure to get both with predrilled holes.
I toyed around with ways to trim them down to the right size, and settled on just slicing off some of the top. I have a step by step below.
Link to the album in since the image linking didn’t work.
Total weight gain was 10 grams and I now have no discernible rattle. I can take the rubber plugs out anytime, and the only downside is the air pressure inside the poles makes it take an extra 10 seconds to collapse them (due to me not getting only stoppers with holes).
On another note, I have a bunch of these stoppers. If anyone wants some, I should be able to just toss em in an envelope and mail them out. PM me and I’ll see what I can do.
