First attempt at a backpack!

This was a lot harder than I thought and I learned a whole lot during the whole build process. I made a lot of mistakes but it was a great learning experience and I am getting ready for build number 2 later next week.

I hope my jumping into it can help inspire others to stop procrastinating and attempt to make your own gear!

covid – inspiration for MYOG projects

“I just made one super huge mistake…I didn’t take into account any seam allowance and thus made inch thick straps that were super tiny. Luckily I had plenty of material so I was able to cut two new straps and start over.”

Make sure you learn everything you can from version #1 before starting version #2.  Maybe take it on a trip.

You used good (expensive) fabric for version #1, sometimes better to use cheap fabric for first prototype.  If this project inspires anyone else.
