Fire! Say you dont like em, or dont need em, or dont ever make em.. never, occasionally, once in a while. Love them, enjoy them, like them…
They are nice to sit next to on a crisp evening under the stars. I usually do not make a fire when backpacking.. but sometimes I do. All depends in the trip, location and mood.. sometimes the weather. I do believe everyone should be capable of making a fire any time or weather… wet and soggy, snow and ice.. its not an easy task but if needed it could be a life saver. Personally, i think it takes too much time to gather wood, make the fire then tend to it.. but I know if needed, chances are I could get one going. This is what I do in my yard when I can’t be out in the mountains. Amongst playing with my gear and using it.. i do enjoy making a camp fire and keeping that skill sharp. I’ ll get out there soon.. I have been scouring my maps trying to find some new trails to hit.. I will settle on something Ive already done, different time of year, different season, different weather.. maybe hit it from the other way? Still looking for something though.. simple. Yup, the temps are dropping and that chill is moving in, the bugs are all but gone.. the leaves are changing and beginning to drop.. I would love to bivy out on ledge and just keep it simple. Enjoy the weekend everyone!
