I’m looking for a lighter weight and smaller replacement for my Hilleberg Nammatj 3GT for two persons for winter shorter expeditions/hikes above treeline. I need as sturdy tent as I seem to find some serious winter stormy conditions in places like nothern Finland or Iceland. On one of the trips our North Face tent fail us during the dead of the night leaving us hiking back 5h. Luckily there was good visibility.
Exped has updated the Polaris tent which is a four pole freestanding single-wall expedition tent. But the site has very little info about it and it has no reviews. Does anyone have experiences or opinions of it? What did they update? I need a bit more space than Alpine climbing two-man tents so those are really not option for us.
I am super happy with the Hilleberg and I think the 2-man version without the GT abside would be perfect but I’m trying to see if there are lighter alternatives. I’m not looking for mids either but more traditional pole design tents.
Other alternatives I’ve looked at: Hilleberg Jannu, Samaya 3.0, Crux X2 Shadow, SlingFin WindSaber. Samaya is sweet but expensive…
Opinions?
