Corrugated Heat Diffuser made of .002 stainless steel. Started out as a 4.25 circle. After corrugating it, the dimensions came to be 3.75 x 4.25
Diffuses heat really nice. I did one test using a starlyte burner under the toaks TD cone. Diffuser was placed on top of cone. Diffuser never got red hot in center, only at the very outer edges where flames peeked over the edge.
I’ll do some evening hour videos using a canister stove to see how it reacts on it.
The corrugations do really well at keeping the diffuser flat. I used the same stainless steel as used on the BGET’s
The diffuser weighs 3 grams.
Did some tests:
Thermal Radiation test:
testing a new design for heat resistance/flatness retention
Those 2 circular diffusers in that last video, I spot welded them together and I think I got the “nirvana” diffuser :-)Â Does not get red hot. It was a nice project, nothing ventured, nothing gained ;)
Oh my! almost forgot….It weighs 1 gram and is 4″ in diameter.
If it did not get red hot, is there any reason why you couldn’t make one out of 0.8 mm aluminium?
Cheers
Dan, this is exactly the style of radial rings in the grease pot bottom I use. It works very well for not burning foods in the pot.
Roger, I have some aluminum that thickness and will make one.
I tried my hand at dry baking using a new 550ml ti pot and the nirvana diffuser. Used 25ml meths and barely discolored the bottom of the pot. See photo:
