After refining this list every summer over the last 9 years, I think I have come close to perfection.  This list allows me to hike in comfort (down pillow, fully enclosed shelter, full length air mattress, etc.) and to stay warm in temps down to 30s-40s Fahrenheit (typical temps for summers in the Rocky Mountains).  Let me know your thoughts.  Obviously, this list will reflect my personal needs / tastes / style.  I hope to one day break the 9 lb barrier, but I haven’t found a way to do so yet without sacrificing comfort.

If you’ve been working on this for 9 years, I’m not sure any of my thoughts/suggestions would be anything you haven’t tried – the obvious stuff that is preference and style. I am interested in your thoughts on umbrellas as many here seem to like using them and I’ve never tried. Have you tried an umbrella…thoughts?
