I’m age 75, 91.8 kg, VO2max 29. When using the formula to calculate Calories/minute (that includes wt in kg, age, VO2max, and HR.) and I set the HR at 65 (resting HR just sitting in a chair), I get 3.3 calories/minute expended.
Using a variety of RMR formulas and choosing the Mifflin-St. Joer, I get an RMR of 1672 or 1.2 calories/minute. Supposedly I can divide the RMR (1.2) into the Calories/minute at resting HR of 3.3 and get METs at a given HR. Yet the METs calculated this way are almost 3 times too high.
What am I missing? Thanks, Mazemike
