Thanks for posting – looks like a great trip.  I agree that hammocks would have been a great option for this trip, but it certainly didn’t look like the three of you had problems sleeping in the tent.  My daughters (17 year-old twins) would have pushed me off one of those ledges if I had videoed them waking up!

I also put this on one of my “avoid this trail” lists…I can’t imagine getting myself through some of those places (i.e. “The Crack”) and one of my regular hiking buddies has a real fear of heights and gets shaky if there’s a chance for him to fall 3-4 feet or more.  He would have turned around on this trail quite early!

Yes Kevin. Lots and lots and lots of climbing and definitely some sketchy sections at that! The video and pictures do no justice,  as I’m sure you know!

Love your video! On my one and only trip to the Catskills, we did some scrambling like that – super fun. The trekking poles really get in the way though and become a trip hazard. But then you want them for the rocky rooty trails. Such a pretty area! Is it always that chilly in April? We may visit my kid at college in upstate NY next March, looking for good places to do day hikes. Maybe the Catskills are still too wintery though.

Thankyou AK Granola! Yes the poles are tricky in some spots, but overall,  I think they great to have/ use.  The weather is weird in April, but yes, it’s still chilly and possibly Icey trails. Definitely March is colder and more possible snow and ice conditions.  If you caught my video from 2 or 3 weeks before this one.. “Dirtbags Sliding Down”  .. Micro Spikes needed.  We’ll you can see that caught me off guard as we had beautiful warmer weather and nice sunny days.. but the Catskills were still sheets of thick thick slippery ice.  BRING MICRO SPIKES. 100%!  There are plenty of options for nice day hikes though, as you can see from that short day hike we did to the waterfalls in that one. If you have any questions,  feel free to hit me up pm or email and hopefully I can help you out with it! Depending what college Upstate NY.. you have the Catskills and Adirondack Mountains!!

posting some pictures of the trip for those not interested in video and those who enjoy pictures. I honestly enjoy both but it’s never the same. You have to be there in the moment to get the full euphoric affect!

Ps.. thats a pretty big meal  made inside my 600 ml pot. As from previous posts I made asking about pot size for cooking and eating from. Well it works for me.. definitely a full pot.  Cleaning it is a non issue too.
