To be honest I was surprised it wasn’t already on here. I don’t put much stake in fake internet points, but apologies all the same for not posting the reddit link. Didn’t think people would really care. It’s not like I gain anything from posting it here. :P

If anyone else is taking advantage of HMG’s generous 20% Black Friday site-wide discount, I was initially unable to check out, as the site would not recognize my existing account at the Checkout stage, even though I was logged in (iMac, latest Firefox, MacOS 10.12.6). The advice I received from HMG was:

“We’re sorry to hear you’re having trouble checking out, but there should be an easy fix. That has been known to happen when we do site maintenance, which we did for the sale, and to fix it you should just be able to clear your cached data and cookies. Another fix would be just trying another browser.”

In the meantime, I had circumvented the issue by using an iPad (latest Safari, latest iOS), compared with the initial use of the iMac.
