    @jrowan

    After a few weeks of work hell (6 weeks of 12-14 hour days with no weekends), I finally have my life back and pretty desperately need to go run around and sleep in the dirt. I’ve got a 3-day weekend coming up, which gives me enough time to do an overnight and still make it back in time for Easter.

    Only problem is that my eyes are shot after this (long story that doesn’t need to go here, but the general gist is that I’ve got eye issues that get really aggravated by prolonged exposure to LCD screens, so I’m not super keen to drive until I get things cleared up).

    The one thing that immediately comes to mind is the relatively recent Alan Dixon post where he goes over a route from Harper’s Ferry to Duncannon on the AT using primarily Amtrak (and a bit of Ubering). Since that article suggests that Duncannon is reachable without a car, I’m intrigued about the idea of maybe snagging an Amtrak/Uber to Duncannon and heading NOBO for an out and back overnight. (I should add that I don’t own a car, so the cost of Amtrak/Uber is pretty comparable to a car rental for me after gas is factored in.)

    That said, I’m curious for other folks’ thoughts on other possibilities. I know the Philly area isn’t exactly rife with easy, transit-accessible overnight options, but really anything that’s not that hard to plan that lets me sleep outside works just fine.
