After a 2-3 year hiatus, La Sportiva has brought back the Akasha, actually now the Akasha II. Since it’s first introduction, I’ve been wearing nothing but Akasha’s both trail running and hiking.
When they discontinued the Akasha a couple of years ago, I went on a mission to find as many as I could. I go through about three pairs a year (roughly 600-700 miles/pair).
I’m down to my last two pairs, but recently saw they have brought them back :) No one has them on sale as they just landed, I see that REI and Moosejaw carry them, probably more as time goes on.
The Akasha has more room than most of their other trail shoes (I’ve tried several that were too snug). I find it has good room in the toe box, but not sloppy in the mid-foot and heel.
My feet aren’t overly wide, but I do need ample room in the toe box- the Akasha has that.
