Life is a thru hike, but it is a finite trip and you don’t know how it ends. That means you better get busy!
So Mote It Be
Sep 15, 2018 at 6:47 pm #3555986We did it! We thru-hiked the Colorado Trail! Took us 6 1/2 weeks. Averaged about 14 miles per hiking day. We learned a lot from this test. 1. We were feeling the pull of home before we were done–like maybe a couple of months away might be our psychological maximum. 2. We are still physically and psychologically able to keep moving through some pretty challenging terrain. 3. The PNT at 1,200 miles is probably outside of our range for a single season, but we might be able to do it in two seasons. 4. There are definitely no health guarantees and we had better get on this project sooner rather than later. While we were up to the CT, it was a stretch for us, and we got really tired.
Thank you all for your helpful opinions and support!

Sep 15, 2018 at 10:43 pm #3556014I prefer the Vedic notion of the illusion of individual consciousness finally dropping away, as one’s essential Self returns home to the eternal sea of cosmic consciousness…

Sep 16, 2018 at 1:06 am #3556030The problem lies not in the reality, but in the perception thereof…
Sep 16, 2018 at 1:09 am #3556031Congratulations, Mina and Robert!
Sep 16, 2018 at 8:57 pm #3556108Congrats Mina! The CT is a great “long trail” and with the high altitudes it requires a good level of fitness. Plus their are a few jeep trails to confuse the hiker as to which trail is the CT.
I’ve down a few sections and now need to do the entire trail as you guys did. And yes, before I’m 80. (So 5 years left to get it done.)
Sep 16, 2018 at 10:44 pm #3556136Thanks! I kept a journal so as soon as I get some more photos collected I hope to work up a trip report. It was a pretty amazing trip. And a confidence booster.
Sep 17, 2018 at 8:35 pm #3556277awesome Mina!!!
Sep 17, 2018 at 9:01 pm #3556284Congrats! Yep it’s not so bad getting older! ;-)
Sep 18, 2018 at 3:56 pm #3556358Mina, well done! It has been inspiring to follow this thread and see you complete the CT.
Oct 9, 2018 at 7:49 pm #3559143The promised Trip Report is in that Forum section now.
Thank you all so much for your encouragement!
