So it is becoming apparent that two factors are important for very good WPB material.
- a Uniformly Microporous Laminate inside the shell fabric
- an exterior DWR that is integral with the fabric and very wear resistant (say Teflon thread treatment applied to individual threads before the shell fabric is woven or knitted).
Obviously current spray-on DWR treatments are easily compromised and only partially effective in helping to maintain breathability of the microporous laminate.
