Hi all,
Here is my three-season gear list for backpacking in south-eastern Australia.
http://www.backyardproject.com.au/gear/
Hoping to reduce weight below 10lb (or 4.5kg) as my skills improve.
Enjoy.
I think your units are off by a factor of 1000.
Your sunglasses are 4 times heavier than your hat?
That's a lot of electronics.
I would ditch the tikka and use a keychain light on a velco dot on a head strap. But I usually go to bed when the sun goes down when hiking.
Your personal liquids/pastes seem a bit much. Are those pared down to what you need over the expected duration?
Overall, good selection of gear, similar to what I bring (except for the electronics).
Steve
Hi Steve,
Thanks very much for taking the time to check out my list.
I'll gladly consider all of your points.
It's definitely a very conservative list with regards to liquids and electronics and I'm expecting it to evolve in practice. I'd hope to hit a long trail (say, JMT) sans Delorme and Garmin.
I've had reliability issues with a Fenix headlight which is why I leaped to the other end of the scale with the Tikka. The Tikka gets plenty pf use day to day (pre dawn dog walks etc) so I'm happy with the investment for now.
Thanks again, Luke
