fire-light mini breaking

Locale: Exploring San Juan talus

so I just got a Firelight Mini, and was working on getting a fire going with just the Mini, a knife, and natural tinder, and I struck it so long and hard that the flint stick broke. I know that I was just pushing too hard. Anyone else breaking these?
