    Just today I discovered the new long handle bamboo spoons at Gossamer Gear. They are 15g, compared to my 16g Ti spoon which I hate the feel of in my mouth. I went ahead and bought two without thinking twice. Time will tell, but I think I'm going to enjoy the wood.

    I've heard that bamboo grows at the ti plant so on topic right?

    I have a couple at home that I cook with and have been in the market for one for backpacking. I also saw GG announce that new spoon and it appears from the picture that it has been burnished well so likely a great product.

    But…

    There are several on Amazon at a fraction of the price.

    I've contemplated buying on, steaming it, and bending it some.

    I'm also using an REI plastic spoon. I agree with the complaints noted above.

    If the bamboo spoons are a bit porous or rough to the touch, you can hit them with mineral oil or butchers block conditioner. Works well on my kitchen utensils.
