I own both Norhtern Lite Quicksilvers and MSR Lightning Ascent shoes. Snow hiking in Southern California and the Sierras, I find a lot of hard snow where the extra "bite" on the MSRs' is appreciated. I wonder if anyone has tried adding more traction to the Northern Lites. I love the light weight of the Northern Lites and don't want to ruin that but wouldn't a compromise be great? There might be a way to pop rivet some more alum crampons or teeth on. Any ideas?

My first thought would be to wrap metal wire around the frame, but I don't know how effective that would be,
