I'm needing to drop weight due to an IT ban injury. The list in my profile (dont know how to post here) is a work in progress. The items that are weighed in the right most column are not making the cut. I'd appreciate how to lessen my weight further for the least $…

    Thanks!
    Ben

You can lose over a pound by swapping your hammock out for something like the Grand Trunk Nano 7 or a no-name nylon version. That's not real expensive. Sleeping bag to underquilt would drop a bunch too, though that's a lot pricier. Depending on your photo desires, I'd leave the mini tripod behind.

Also your shared gear won't divide evenly by two so stick your hiking partner with the larger half ;)

Thanks for the response. Since I like to sleep on my stomach, a bridge hammock seems needed. I'll give a 11' gathered end a shot.
As for the tripod, its a must for long exposures at night.
    Thanks for the thoughts,
    Ben

    Going lighter is never inexpensive.

Lighter pack like an Arc Blast or golite jamii – saves about a pound

Lighter Johns like silk – 4-5oz

Lighter rain gear. YOu can do that from 4.5-10 oz depending on how much you want to spend.

Go to a quilt for a hammock – should save at least 8oz but expensive or myog.

Buy some titanium foil and build a cone wood stove.

MYOG a double 1.1 ripstop hammock. Mine weighs 20oz with SUL suspension.
    That alone will save 2#.
Lighter still would be a double M50 hammock 14oz with SUL suspension.

Understand the camera as I am a camera nut too but a RX100 3 weighs about 10oz and takes great photos, but you would need a filter adapter. If you are into film cameras go find a used Contax TVS 2. Has manual controls filter ring and is tiny. Very light camera and very sharp optics.

Without the camera, water, worn cloths consumables or food 12# is easy to hit without a ton of $. 9-10# is not too bad.

Going below 9# into the 6-7-8# area can be very expensive.

In general I am at about 8# right now with an Arc Blast, WM summerlight bag and 20dF UQ.

With a lighter pack and more money I can get down to around 7#.

Thanks for the insight! I'll look at the camera options to drop weight but not loosing functionality.

The rain gear is a good point for the summer, but in fall and winter here I need some bombproof gear…

My diy bridge hammock is 20oz utilizing my hiking poles for spreader bars, but I could lighten the suspension.

    Again, thanks for the help!
