I have not been able to get out over the past few years due to a young family, work as well as other commitments and am just starting to ease my way back in. Since I have not been out in some time a second, third or fourth set of eyes on my list would be greatly appreciated.

3 Season (should be down to freezing)
    2-4 day solo trips
    Mid Atlantic Region

    Thanks

Good list. I took some mental notes because I'm working on re-trying and lightening my hammock setup.

What do you use for a rock sack when bear bagging, if any? Another stuff sack, or just tie to a stick or rock?

Keep your backup lighter dry! And, know what to do if it does get wet. It doesn't take much moisture to stop them from sparking. I've experienced this in high humidity conditions around freezing with only light precipitation falling. Now, I usually only take a firesteel, but that's a bit trickier to use, especially with Esbit. (Currently I use alcohol or fire for cooking.)

Thanks for the comments. As far as a counterweight goes I will use a rock or a stick that is close to where I am hanging the bag.
As for my backup fire starter(lighter), I always keep it in a ziplock bag either on me or in a pocket on my pack so there is little chance of it getting it wet. Lighting esbit with anything other than a flame is a pain.

Looks like a good solid list.

My hammock pack base weight is right at 8# with a Arc blast or 7# with more minimal gear and a Zero pack both 3 season but I am a tall XL so everything is heavier/bigger/longer etc.

My hot Summer list is like 4# or so.

You can lose some weight here and there if you really want to – All expensive below of course except the tulle tube.
You could drop about a pound with a Arc blast and some other changes. More if you go with a Zero pack.

Lighter pack – saves 5oz arc blast, Zero pack saves 11-12oz.

Tulle tube bug net sprayed with permithrin and carry some insect repellent in case of no seeums – saves 4.5 oz. No bug net at all saves more like just a head net which I carry anyway.

    Cuben tarp – saves 4oz

You can drop a few oz by going to a SUL down jacket but I do understand the choice of a synthetic jacket.

Probably find an ounce or two more here and there.

If you really want to go SUL in weight in the hot summer for a 2-3 day trip then minimize everything, build a M50 2oz climashield apex quilt with a neck hole (8-10oz for you) to also use as an insul poncho, IE no insul jacket and I assume you are somewhat short so would probably fit in a nano hammock which weighs 5 oz with no suspension, use a Terra Nova Ultra 20L pack weighs 4 oz, double duty 5×9 or 6×9 Zpack custom cuben poncho tarp with an emergency rain jacket but you need a short hammock, 1/8" full perforated CF pad 5-6 oz or maybe a Tewa 10.5 oz 40dF summer UQ depending and you should end up at about 4#-4.5#. If you are going to use a pad you might want to build a M50 double layer hammock to place the pad between the layers.
A 10'x5' double M50 hammock should weigh about 7.5 oz. I am working on one myself right now.

Have you checked out Loners youtube videos ? He did the At with a budget UL hammock pack. Here are two of his gear videos.

You are lighter than I am so I can't add much, but I do have 1 suggestion. I would lose the wind jacket. I have a Dri-Ducks rain jacket myself and I rely on it for wind protection, which you really don't need much of on the east coast. If you were planning on doubling them up for added insulation when it gets cold you could probably find something warmer than the wind jacket for the weight.

    @Troy:
Thanks for the suggestions and the links to Loner's videos. He has a nice little set up, but the nano 7 is not for me. I have tried it several times and it is just too small. As for the rest of the suggestions there are definitely some things to look into. I have a summer kit that does weigh a bit(about a pound less)so there are takeaways from there.
I would like to try a tulle bug net as it is fairly cheap and easy to make. While the other suggestions are good the pack and tarp options are very pricey. Thanks again.

I appreciate the tip. However, the wind jacket is one of those pieces of gear that is a must have for me. The driducks are good for rain, but do not breath at all. I use the windjacket in the mornings and in exposed areas. I could drop a few oz though if I try something new like the patagonia houdini pullover @ 3.1oz.

Understand and I have also tried the nano every way you can imagine, spreader bars, wide pad etc and I am just too tall for it.

You might want to consider a M50 double layer hammock one day.
Not sure if I mentioned that or not.
A 5×11 should weigh about 8.5oz for just the cloth.

Yes on the pricey part. I have some good jobs going so am catching up on my shopping list, IE used arc blast and either a HG asym tarp at 4.5 oz or have Zpacks build me a custom 6×9.5 poncho tarp to use as a short hammock asym tarp. I just need to build a shorter hammock I can live with. Will probably be a double M50 10-11' long hammock or there abouts.

    @Troy:
If you are looking at the M50 dual layer you may want to look at the 1.1 traveler. It is 8oz with the ridgeline and stuff sack.
The packs are another option but I cant justify buying an Arc Blast. As for the tarps I think I can shave some weight there. I have been looking at the cuben asyms and hex tarps from HG, Zpacks and MLD. I really want to try an asym tarp one of these days and may pull out the golite poncho tarp and see if it can do double duty on an overnight.

The way I look at it is I think I can save about a pound for 3 season use if I spend about $500 which is a bit steep.

Just out of curiosity, do you have a gear list to review. I always like looking at other hammock gear lists.

Single layer 1.1 wont work for me – too heavy.
I do have a double layer 1.1 MYOG hammock that is my most comfortable hammock but its a tad heavy.

I have the fabric for the double M50 but have not made it. Supposed to be super comfortable and I want a double layer to place a pad between.

For me the arc blast was more for the frame and mesh panel back. I already have a Golite Jam II which is close to the same weight. Bought the arc blast used and its like new so was a good deal.

Of course just after I bought the arc blast a Green zero pack came up on the hammock forums with all the add ons I wanted for a reasonable price so now I have both and will sell the JamII.

Yes once you get to that end of trying to save one last pound it gets very expensive.

Will post a gear list later.
I keep mine on a spreadsheet.

Just FYI my Cuben H.G. Asym tarp tips the scale at 3.4oz, pretty sweet piece of gear. I supplement it with a Pertex poncho/weather shield(5.65oz).
