    @10-7

    I'm fairly meh about the 16-55 kit lens. It gets the job done and not a horrible walk-around lens but as mentioned above, I've found a noticible improvement with my pictures when I switched to the Sony 16mm (24mm eqv). I'm still looking at other wide angle lenses but it'll take me another 4-6 months before I can rent all of the lenses I'm interested in and make final purchasing decisions.

    The RX100iii removes that process from your JMT adventure and in true UL fashion, simplifies the process.

    Have fun and can't wait to read the trip report. You are aware that you have a blog some of us would like to read articles from time to time… right? :)

    yeah, um, right.

    My mother tells me the same thing ;)

    Since I want that to help support me on some level, I should probably work on it a bit every now and then, eh?

    Hi Jennifer, I'm late to the party (for all I know you're out on the JMT as we speak…in which case I'm very jealous). :)

    I just wanted to add I think you made a great choice in keeping the RX100III, especially for that type of hike. I recently bought my first non-canon, the A7R. I'm in love with it, but if I was doing a huge long hike the RX100III would be the easy choice in a heartbeat. I seem to have a similar mind-set to you. I don't really see the allure of an A6000 (which I'm sure really IS a great camera). If I want small, I'd go with the RX100III and if I'm carrying camera gear, I'd want the A7r. The A6000 is too much of a compromise on both ends.

    Long story short, good choice, and I hope you're out enjoying it.

    A useful site for camera size comparison is camerasize.com
    It lets you compare the sizes of dozens of different models including several lens options
    For example this is the Sony A6000 compared to the Nikon P7100 (same size as the 7000)
    A6000 P7100
    and this is the A6000 compared to the RX100
    A6000 RX100
