I’m still in too.
Mar 17, 2016 at 7:35 am #3389751Hi Dan Im also interested in one of the mechanical devices you mentioned if I could get that with my same order. I have a few questions on you new kit if you don’t mind. The kit I’m using now is very similar using the 550 pot but my pot sits lower in the cone. Im assuming you raised your pot to use the StarLyte in the cone? I love my StarLyte but I don’t use it in my cone, I just use solid fuel. The burner/stove I’m use now is a Burt’s Bees lip balm container. It works great with the cheap (round) Coghlans fuel tablets. When I used Esbit I used the BGET stove with the legs cut off allowing the pot to sit lower in the cone. All this said, it really didn’t help nor hinder the efficiency of the boil time. So here comes the big question! By the looks of the pots you have done, the ring looks like it would be right below the handles on a 550 pot. If you use a 550 pot with handles do you now think that a ring could it be a possibility on it? BTW these kits fit perfectly in a Ziploc screw top container.
Mar 17, 2016 at 8:02 am #3389755If there’s no international shipping, Dan, I’ll have to back out.
Mar 17, 2016 at 8:22 am #3389760Ha! If she wants to be naughty, then Ken gets to buy it. We’ll probably share the cost, so Jennifer can be naughty and nice. We already discussed it.
Mar 17, 2016 at 8:43 am #3389765Kurt, maybe I’m just not looking at the right one but I have been actively trying to find this container to fit my same pot and can’t find one. Did they recently change the dimensions on these?
Mar 17, 2016 at 8:59 am #3389772Scott I don’t know if they changed. I have had mine for a few years. I’m curious now I might have to buy some to see if they are different. BTW the 550 Toaks lid does not fit inside the container, I just lay it on top of the screw top lid and wrap with a rubber band.
Mar 17, 2016 at 9:37 am #3389784Kurt, later today I will apply a ridgeline to a Toaks 550 that I recently purchased used here on BPL. It should work just fine. Thanks for your photos. A mechanical device won’t be needed on small diameter pots. I may elect to carry a line of Ti pots with ridgelines applied. I’ll send you one of the devices with your order.
There has been a lot of good information that has come forth in a few threads in the past 6 months that may lead to a whole new way of thinking these small kits/bundles. Dan Durston’s enthusiasm for “modification” is contagious LOL

William, I’ll ship to you next batch.
Mar 17, 2016 at 11:07 am #3389824You are trying to get a Toaks 550 UL pot with handles into a screw top container, right? I have that pot and a bunch of unused containers that I’ve been sitting on for a couple years. If this is the combination you are looking for I can see if I have a good fit and either tell you what brand the container is or send you one of mine.
Mar 17, 2016 at 11:14 am #3389828Matthew, yup, a ‘Toaks Light 550’. That would be great! Thanks!
Mar 17, 2016 at 11:24 am #3389831Thanks, Dan. Time to exercise some patience.
Mar 17, 2016 at 1:40 pm #3389872aw, you guys! who knew you grumpy old men were just so damned sweet? It’s all been an act, hasn’t it…you guys really all all nice inside, aren’t you?
Mar 17, 2016 at 2:27 pm #3389880550 with handles needs a partial ridgeline, handles won’t lay flat for storage….bummer :-))) R&D gets to be expensive :-)
William, you want the 550 with handles that don’t lay flat. I bought it used will sell cheap. It still holds water :)
Mar 17, 2016 at 2:29 pm #3389882Dan,
Send me the link for Jennifer’s stove and I will cover it for Ken and me.
Mar 17, 2016 at 3:40 pm #3389904@scottx yep the 2 cup container fits as Kurt stated. Nice and snug and the ti lid fits outside of the container in the recess of the blue plastic lid.
I’m 99.9% sure I got this at Walmart. House brand. See my photo below for the distinctive side markings.
Mar 17, 2016 at 3:41 pm #3389906Holler if you can’t find one and I’ll ship you one of mine.
Mar 17, 2016 at 4:17 pm #3389913Sweet! I’ll check it out this weekend. Thanks!
Mar 17, 2016 at 4:38 pm #3389917The suspense of being next on the waiting list….. Will I make it or not?
Mar 17, 2016 at 6:58 pm #3389946Still in!
Mar 17, 2016 at 7:02 pm #3389947I am still in also. Send me the link also when ready. Fred
Mar 17, 2016 at 7:31 pm #3389952Still in, awaiting the golden link.
Mar 17, 2016 at 8:28 pm #3389960Ok, suspense is over :-)))
Tomorrow, I’ll send the link to all names that are on the list. Only had one drop off so far.
You can all pay me and I promise I won’t skip town :-)
I’ll send out the 9 kits and will order more pots and cones by the end of the day tomorrow so the ball will start rolling on the next batch.
Dan
Mar 17, 2016 at 10:25 pm #3389972Huzzah. Thanks Dan, looking forward to grabbing one of these.
Mar 17, 2016 at 10:39 pm #3389974yo Dan. I will take that used cup with handles in my kit for a savings. Can I also ditch the esbit items too for a discount or random object of amazement? R.L. is my list name.
Mar 17, 2016 at 10:44 pm #3389978sorry second question. by adding an indent are you also increasing the volume holding capacity? making it far superior to stock cups.
Mar 18, 2016 at 8:28 am #3390019“Golden Link” has been sent :-)
Russell, I doubt if the ridge added any volume, maybe shortened the height by? I sent you a message regarding the ridged 550 with handles.
The sun is shining here in the Midwest….it’s going to be a great day!
