Hey all,
List:
http://lighterpack.com/r/3llh47On July 14 a buddy and I are hiking the CT from Durango to Denver.
We plan on doing it in 16 days, hopefully
Resupply: Mt. Princeton Hot springs (on the trail)
Day 8
Breckenridge (as trail crosses CO-9 there is a free bus stop that takes you into town)
Day 12-13
Group gear that my friend is carrying:
First aid kit: 3 oz
He might end up carrying fuel. For the most part I will be significantly lighter than him so I will be carry things like the tarp and cook kit.
My primary questions are regarding clothing.
Especially the Windbreaker ( I know its pretty heavy) —- Do I need it?
Do I need bug screen?I'm also still working on hanging 8 or 9 days of food the first couple of nights.
Im leaving in 3 weeks so changes will be rushed but all criticism and advice are welcomed.
I have no gear sensitivity so please help me get lighter….
Thanks,
ChaseJun 23, 2014 at 5:43 pm #2114089Awesome list! I will be heading out on july 20th durango bound so we might run into each other. Are you taking the coll. peaks route? The wind jacket does look heavy, I love the dynamo fabric at montbell… I recently made the decision to go with pants as well as rain pants. On account of robustness and sun protection. Just something to think about, high elevation sun and rain. A suggestion has been made to me to be ready to pack 4 liters of water when reaching the drier parts of the trail. I also go without a stove if you are looking to trim weight.
Other than that I think it looks awesome except for the lack of a standalone bivy sac ;)
Edit: nvm of course u are taking coll. peaks, ur going through mt princeton haha
Jul 2, 2014 at 4:02 pm #2116900Thanks alex, I'm pretty stoked.
Im considering adding another half liter platy because while studying the trail I have found a couple sections that go 20+ miles without water.
Hopefully I'll see ya on the trail! Good luck with your hike.
