I'm sure most of us have used a Tom Harrison map at some point of other. He's giving a talk at the Point Reyes Field Institute this Sunday, June 15, 9-11 AM.

"Join master map maker Tom Harrison and look at the different kinds of maps that have been used to describe the trails, facilities, and ownership boundaries of the Point Reyes National Seashore. We will talk about the research and field mapping methods used to make those maps. We will also look at the kinds of maps that are being developed today and explore the possibilities for mapping in the future. We will discuss the use of GPS units, smart phones and other personal devices and how they fit into mapping both today and in the future. Also open to youth (age 15-17) with adult attendance."
(for those unfamiliar with Point Reyes, it's an absolutely stunning bit of coastline just north of San Francisco)
