Good evening folks,
I came across the below Unna inner that Ookworks made but is unable to reproduce, I am talking to some cottage manufactures to see if they can produce something similar.
Is this something folk would be interested in?
P.s. I am willing to send my Unna off to be used as a template.
Apr 11, 2014 at 8:56 pm #2092154I'd be interested in seeing what they could come up with. I have the optional net inner tent also but there is no real weight savings with it.
Apr 11, 2014 at 9:07 pm #2092157Hi Richard,
I am in the same the same boat with the mesh inner. I am hoping if we get enough interest we would get a 600gram semi solid inner made up.
Fingers crossed.
Apr 12, 2014 at 12:09 am #2092201Maybe it's the late/early hour but I'm looking at an inner consisting of a cuben floor with walls of lower half syl, upper half net?
18 hour work days just seem to scramble me.
Thanks!Apr 12, 2014 at 5:54 am #2092221I really like that. I'm interested just depends on specs/price.
Apr 12, 2014 at 6:27 am #2092226I hear you on the crazy.work days Steofan :-)
A Cuben floor would definitley be good, what weight of cuben are you thinmore folf?
I myself would be more so thinking of using ripstop for breathabililty, with the same height bathtub as the stock inner. I must pitch the inner and have a look.
I would send my Unna off to whichever company we went with. The labor/material costs on the prototype may be high, so the more folk we can get on board would spead the cost.
P.s. posting on a phone so ignore any typos.
Apr 12, 2014 at 6:31 am #2092229Hi Brad,
I was typing when you posted. I probably would not want
to spend more than 200$ on this, or 250$ at most.Another option would be a mesh inner for 125$ and get it modified.
Apr 12, 2014 at 9:35 am #2092264I just weighed the Unna inner and it is 655g (23.46oz) and the Ookworks inner using 1.75oz cuben floor is 330g (11.64oz)
Apr 12, 2014 at 1:58 pm #2092315Out of interest Stephen, what do the Unna outer and poles weigh?
Thanks.
Apr 12, 2014 at 2:29 pm #2092322Hi Jim,
Hope all is well in England?
The outer is 895g and poles by themselves are 424g, the pole bag with spare
Pole section is 49g.My scales may be a small bit off.
Cheers,
Stephen
Apr 13, 2014 at 2:22 pm #2092591Yes all well in blighty except for a cold.
Wow that's quite a bit…….good to know. Thanks Stephen, much appreciated!
Apr 13, 2014 at 3:08 pm #2092605Hope you shake the cold Jim.
The outer is bit of porker indeed, a good 200g heavier than my Sl3.
Apr 20, 2014 at 2:43 pm #2094806Got a stock mesh inner, it weighs 635g.
I will try it out on a trip and may get it modified, so going to scrap the idea of a custom one.Jul 30, 2014 at 10:59 am #2123428The mesh inner is very nice, I cannot decide if I want to modify it.
Jun 23, 2022 at 9:19 am #3753487Curious if anything ever happened with this? Looking for a mesh option for my Unna. Hilleberg said they wouldn’t be available for at least another year.
Sep 18, 2022 at 2:59 pm #3760219Nah, moved on to a new tent the next year :-)
