How late in the fall can you fish RMNP?

You’ll have to forgive me. I am new to fly fishing for trout but am really looking forward to using my gear on the west side of RMNP. A friend and I are planning on spending 3-4 days in the park perhaps taking the north inlet / tonahutu loop. After some feedback here and in another site we’re considering hiking up and down the east inlet trail to give us more time to fish.

My question for you all is how late in the year is it worthwhile to fish. We’ll be arriving on September 7th and leaving on the 10th. Should we pack the fly fishing gear or save the weight? I would assume it is somewhat dependent upon the unpredictable weather.

I've fished the Poudre as it exits the park well into October and it's excellent. The fly rods will be well worth the weight. The Cutthroat will be in their best fall colors so bring a camera.

I've done very well that time of year with #14 & 16 Lime Trudes. Pocket water is particularly productive in the fall. I've never broke 14 inches with most fish being around 10 inches.
