I’m trying to help a friend of mine update his clothing system. His main avocation is fall and winter hunting in Eastern and New England woodlands. He has been using a lot of very heavy traditional canvas and wool gear and wants to lighten up a bit. He needs to be prepared for both strong winds and rain in cool to cold temperatures, with the possibility of snow. But here’s the catch: the clothing has to be reasonably durable, come in neutral colors, and not make much noise when layers rub together.
I’ve suggested a good Polarguard/Primaloft midlayer with a thin wool hunting-specific outer layer for general purpose use, along with a lightweight WPB shell in his pack.
Any other suggestions?
