I'm trying to pick out my first set of gear for backcountry skiing and have wide enough feet that anything not specifically advertised as wide is usually painful. I have had no luck finding an NNN-BC boot for wide feet and I'm starting to give up hope.
Feb 17, 2014 at 5:35 pm #2074510what brands have you tried so far?

Feb 17, 2014 at 7:31 pm #2074550The only boots I've used so far are some Alpina boots when I rented some skis to try it out. The 46 was the right length, but way too tight and the 47 was (barely) wide enough but way too long.
Feb 17, 2014 at 8:36 pm #2074573You would think in this day and age, that 3D scans of one's feet could be compared with standard 3D scans of the interiors of ski boots… it might not be perfect, but would have to be an improvement. The best ski boot fit I ever got was from Forest Mountaineering in Denver, where the guy actually felt the shape of my feet, to choose telemark boots for me. They proved an excellent fit. He knew his craft.
Feb 18, 2014 at 7:02 am #2074652Would you consider SNS BC boots? I recently got a pair of barely (never?) used boots that are the widest, roomiest I could find. Tried on just about everything. Ski boots really are the worst for big feet!
In the end I've decided I don't want to go that route for bindings, so I'm back to square one. I can send pics if you are interested. I'd let them go for not much more than it would cost to ship them.
Feb 18, 2014 at 1:08 pm #2074784I would consider it. What boots and what size? What kind of shoes do you wear normally?
Feb 18, 2014 at 2:21 pm #2074810Rossignol bc x9–or 10 or 8– perhaps. That's what I'm using (x9). Pretty wide. But mine are several years old and sometimes manufacturers change their lasts from year to year.

Can't vouch for them, never bought from them, but like their site as they have lots of BC gear, & good information tucked in about the gear. They smell very strongly to me like a place that will give you good information if you call.
Feb 20, 2014 at 10:54 am #2075432They're older Soloman Backcountry 4, but looking at the soles I'm not sure they were ever used. They look like this: https://www.marmotmountain.com/c-images/salomonbc4.l.jpg
Burgundy instead of black.Size EU 48. I usually wear a 13 EEEE or 14 EEEE depending on the brand of footwear if that helps.
