This is my final list for my thru hike. As far as the big three go, they are final and I cant afford to change them. As for all the other stuff, I would love to hear your input on some of the little things and gear I marked as "new". I am going to be starting on March 16th, heading north. I have 2 sets of gear, one for the colder months, and one for the warmer months. Ill be switching out gear near the VA border. Check out the list under my profile.

Looks like a pretty awesome list. I did the AT in 2011 and I would have been very happy with that list. The only thing I would add is one or two extra tent pegs. I'm not too familiar with the notch but I imagine four is a bare minimum for a windy site. You will inevitably loose one or more at some point and you may regret not carrying that extra fraction of an ounce when you do. Also, I tried sleeping on a ridge rest for a month and a half. Never again. I doubt the weight difference between the neo air and it are enough to want to give up a good sleep.

14 lbs seems like a lot for a march start on the AT. You have a lot of light/quality gear – I would just focus on trimming down how much stuff you actually are bringing. For example maybe not bring the flip flops, leatherman, extra mug, two shirts, a towel, etc etc. Of course this is easy stuff to ditch later on if you want.

This would partially be to save weigh but also just to have less crap to have to keep track of. Personally, during a thru, minimizing how much assorted junk I'm carrying makes hiking more pleasant.

Good list. I'd add a map, compass, and whistle.

I consider stakes a luxury item when there are sticks or rocks available. :)
