I was in the market for a backpack upgrade, and in looking at all of the reviews, comments, tea leaves, etc., decided that Elemental Horizons apparently makes fine UL backpacks. Elemental is domiciled near Wilmington, NC, and since I'm about 4 hours away, asked if I could meet him there to take a look. Matthew sent me a note back that he was visiting family in my area the next weekend and if convenient, we could arrange a meeting…and that's what we did.
Tell you what… Matthew and his wife Emily stood in a cold parking lot with me and my family for almost two hours on a Sunday afternoon, trying on backpacks and asking questions, discussing backpacking in general. Every question was addressed to the 10th power before I could even ask. I’m just one guy wanting to evaluate one backpack.
I now own an Aquilo and will provide product feedback after I hit the trail (it is sweet!). I’m extremely impressed with the pack, but even more so with Elemental Horizons. Matthew knows what he’s doing, the products are fantastic, and it is obvious he intends to stand behind his creations. You will not go wrong.
