While I have seen higher quality jackets, I've seen nothing of this quality anywhere near the price (paid $60 new). So this jacket and brand is something of a bang-for-the-buck leader. Uniqlo doesn't market to the outdoor crowd like the names we all know, but they nonetheless make a quality, lightweight (7.6 oz) jacket, which happens to also be unexpectedly fashionable–you could wear this in town without apology. Although a Japanese company with product made in China, my medium sized jacket was true to U.S. size and doesn't have the "boxy" cut I've come to expect from inexpensive down. The FP is advertised as 640, but the company has stated that's on the "Japanese Scale," which isn't the same as USA scale. Some internet sleuthing will find estimates that this FP may translate to perhaps 740 (give or take) on a USA scale. I never knew about this company until I started reading BPL, so…thanks BPL!
My high rating was influenced by the remarkable low price, but also by the quality of the stitching, warmth, fit, decent FP of the down, weight, attractive nylon DWR shell, and compactability.
