Each additional day on the trail requires more, and after a week or two it gets even greater.

I remember one long thru-hike where Sue & I started doing at least 1.5 stages per day (camping, not tent). OK, that was a a ‘few years ago’, but we were really traveling.
We were using food drops I had put in beforehand, so we knew exactly how much food we had. The fun bit is that we were eating 1.5 days worth of food per day, to match the distance. The chocolate and dried fruit&nuts just vanished, but so did the rest (rice etc).
