I am leaving tomorrow for a Wind River traverse. Plan was to start at Green River Lakes TH and head along the east shore of Lower Green River Lake. It looks like that section of the CDT is now closed.
Does anyone know if we can instead take the west shore and connect at the south of the lake between the upper lake and lower lake?
I suggest you call the Pinedale Ranger Station who will have all the details, including the condition of that alternate trail across the lake. You might want to ask about smoke concentrations in the upper Green River valley, too. An alternate route would be to enter via the New Fork Trail, joining the Highline at either Trail Creek Park or Summit Lake.
