Does anyone here fish tenkara or western fly fish in Arizona? I've only seen a couple people with spinning rods since I've started. I tend to stay away from crowded places and really like West Clear Creek as my go-to spot.
I fish tenkara and East Clear Creek is a good spot. I've been out there for 2 days without seeing anyone. Some areas are more productive than others.
Canyon Creek is okay but not very backpackable; better saved for day trips. The Black River may also be good – I'm headed there soon. And I've been wanting to try Chevelon Canyon for awhile.
You may also look around the Verde River and Horton Creek.
I planned on fishing Chevelon Canyon Creek, but when I went I misjudged where the forest road that I took was going to lead in. It was far too close to the south end of the Chevelon Canyon Lake where the width/depth was much more than I anticipated.
My next trip up there will be about 6 miles south of the lake where hopefully it'll be more of what I am expecting/looking for. I'm hoping Telephone Ridge Trail #103 will get me down into a good spot.
I've also thought about just starting at Willow Springs Lake and heading north, but I'm not too sure how productive that would be in that area or how difficult it would as a hike.
