I once air-dropped smoked bacon for a trip, and picked it up about a month later. That was fine. But it was properly smoked and wrapped in butchers paper for the drop.

    Cheers

I’m so old I remember when Amazon only sold typewriters.

Not so fast there, sonny… I’m so old that I was the one who told Quintus Smyrnaeus to put Amazon babes in his Fall of Troy scrolls or they would never sell.

+1 on the Oberto Bacon Jerky, by the way.

I just use the precooked crumbled bacon whe I take it.  Either Hormels from SAMs Club or the Kirkland brand from Costco and sprinkle it on or just eat it as is.  I have gone up to 12 days without issue and just double baggie it.  The nice thing about the crumbled precooked stuff is there is little fat to go rancid, especially on trips with high temps.

i remember buy a bacon bar in the 70’s that came in a small box wrapped in foil.  It was crumbled and pressed into a little brick.  That may still be available if someone else can remember the name, but it may have gone the way of the Hershey Tropical bar.

+1 on the Trails Best Bacon Jerky.  Also loving Ballpark flame grilled BBQ Pork jerky (also available from WM).

As far as bacon goes, I’ve settled on the Plumrose Bacon pieces…especially when my grocery has them 2 for 1 :)  The package is small enough to finish in a day or two after opening…depending on your love of Bacon.
