Based on hiking high Sierra, we are comfortable with 12-15 miles per day and lots of elevation change if necessary but ok with less, especially if the scenery merits it.
other details:
Can be at any western trailhead by Thursday morning
Need to be back at vehicle by Sunday evening.
So basically 4 full days of hiking, 50+/- miles would be perfect.
I realize that the weather at the time of the trip, as well as over the next couple months will dictate this, but we'd like to avoid snow travel if possible.
Would like to not have to carry a ton of water, so water sources at least every few miles would be good.
Might not get much of a chance to come back here again soon, so if theres something we absolutely shouldn't miss, please include that.
Details about permits/fire regulations, etc. helpful as well, but I will research those myself.
