There was a spirited discussion today in the The G Spot forum today that reminded me of a website that I regularly use when I am planning hikes and making gear selections. The data at http://www.wrcc.dri.edu/summary/climsmwa.html shows climate data for Washington State. The user specified precipitation graphs are quite interesting. You can select rainfall probabilities and/or amounts and see what the long term averages are for a few hundred locations. Here is an example. If you want to hike in Washington and want the best chance of a rain-free trip—come on August 1.
