    I know this is last minute since payment is due October 1st but our Venture Crew is trying to fill spots for a trek in 2013 from 7/2 – 7/14/13. We are a Crew out of Tucson, AZ. Unfortunately, there is limited interest within the Crew and the associated Troop. Please PM as soon as possible if you're seriously interested.

    Good luck. My trek is from July 1st to July 13th and I had one boy drop. Asked around like crazy and could not fill it. What I am not sure about is could I fill it when the last payment is due? The form they sent out allow me to add or subtract from my current roster… Obviously, if I added a person, they had to pay $435…subtracting a person deducted $335…

    So, you and I still might have a chance to fill the roster when the last payment is due.

    Anyone out there know this to be true or not?

    It is too bad there is not a Posting board like Sea Base has for crews looking to fill spots. While I understand working as a crew in your shakedowns, etc is much different than just meeting on a ship at Sea Base, still…I think it has some merit for a boy that wants to go to Philmont in the worse way, but can;t since his troop is not going nor anyone in his council…

    It is taken me 30 years to get back to Philmont so I was offering what probably is a once in a lifetime opportunity to go to Philmont to other local scouts and could not find a scout to go….

    You need to pay for a minimum of 7 from the deposit through the 2nd payment in March 2013. You can add up to an additional five (I have seen Crews with 13 on the trail too) right up to the time you arrive at Philmont. So if you had 10 now and two more asked to go along in mid June, you could still take them. Certainly, Philmont would like to know as soon as possible but you can walk into Administration with a check for any additional Crew members on your arrival day. The $435.00 is the deposit plus the first payment ($100 + $335).

    I posted on http://www.philmontforum.com. Not sure if you have used that site. Based on the responses I have received so far, it appears that I am not alone in struggling to fill a Crew.

    (I have seen Crews with 13 on the trail too) right up to the time you arrive at Philmont.

    Our troop has been there with a crew of 14. But I suggest you clear it with Philmont as soon as you know you you want more than 12.
